What is expected on a job?
Our clients like well-presented, clean and discreet cooks. You may be asked to lay and clear tables, wash-up and do any food shopping. You must always keep receipts for any purchases made on behalf of the client for reimbursement.
You should aim to work quietly and always ensure the kitchen surfaces and floor are thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day or when the job is completed. We will give you a Book a Cook apron to wear on our jobs.
Some clients like you to wear your chef’s whites, but in other cases dress conservatively. Most clients will not expect you to sit with them at the table although on longer jobs this might be something they invite you to do.
Please always be respectful of a client’s home and family time, hopefully most of our clients will enjoy having you around but some clients are more private than others. If a client wishes to use your services again in the future, please always ask them to contact Book a Cook to make the arrangements.
We are an agency and as such, rely on repeat fees which are well documented in our terms which every client signs. Our expectation of our cooks is that when accepting a job they will honour it.
Cooks should not take our jobs early in the year as an “Insurance Policy”. By accepting a job, you are contracted to do that job and if you pull out we will not use you in future and reserve the right to charge you the equivalent of the booking fee.
Above all, we work hard to match the right cook with the right client and have a good reputation because of the excellent and hard working cooks and chefs whom we place.
